# Send feature requests to Linear

Connect Linear to featurevote, send requests to Linear as issues or link issues you already have, and let each request follow its issue's status.

Connect your Linear workspace to featurevote, then send a request to Linear as an issue, or link an issue you already have. When the issue starts, the request moves to **In progress**. When the issue is done, so is the request, and its voters get the usual email telling them it shipped.

Linear comes with the Growth, Pro and Lifetime plans. A connection you made keeps working if your plan ends.

## Connect Linear

1. Go to **Settings → Integrations** and open **Linear** under **Issue tracking**.
2. Click **Connect Linear**.
3. Linear asks you to approve access for featurevote. Pick the workspace and click **Authorize**.

You land back on **Settings → Integrations**, where the Linear row shows the workspace it is connected to.

featurevote asks Linear for two things: to read your workspace and its issues, and to create issues. Issues it creates show as created by the person who connected Linear.

## Send a request to Linear

1. Open a request.
2. Click **Linear** at the top of the request, next to its status and tags.
3. Click **Create a Linear issue**, pick the team, and click **Create issue**.

The issue gets the request's title and description, and a link back to the request on your board. The request now shows the issue's key, for example **ENG-123**, and its state in Linear.

## Link an issue you already have

1. Open a request and click **Linear** at the top.
2. Click **Link an existing issue**.
3. Paste the issue's URL, or type its key, such as `ENG-123`, and click **Link issue**.

Only issues in the workspace you connected can be linked. Linking does not change the request's status yet. The next time the issue changes state in Linear, the request follows.

## How the status follows

| In Linear | The request |
| --- | --- |
| Started (for example **In Progress**) | Moves to **In progress** |
| Completed (for example **Done**) | Moves to **Done**, and its voters are emailed |
| Anything else, canceled included | Stays as it is |

A request only moves forward. A request that is **Done** stays done if the issue is reopened, so its voters are not emailed twice. A request waiting for your approval, or one you declined, is never moved.

Changes go one way, from Linear to featurevote. Changing a request's status in featurevote does not change the issue.

## Unlink or disconnect

To unlink, open the request, click the issue's key at the top and click **Unlink**. The issue stays in Linear.

To disconnect, go to **Settings → Integrations**, open **Linear** and click **Disconnect**. Requests stop following their issues, but keep showing them. Connecting the same workspace again picks them up.
