Cookie Policy

We use cookies to keep you signed in, to remember a few of your preferences, and to measure how people use Featurevote.

The measuring is done by Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog. On our public website we ask visitors in Europe whether they accept analytics storage. If you choose essential only, PostHog stops; Google Analytics and Clarity keep measuring without cookies. When Reddit advertising measurement is enabled, we separately ask permission to use its Pixel. It stays off until you agree and does not measure customer feedback boards.

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on your next request — which is how you stay signed in between page loads.

Websites can also store data in your browser without cookies, using local storage and session storage. We use both, and we list what we keep there below, because it affects your privacy the same way a cookie does even though it is technically not one.

These are required for the Service to work. If you block them, you will not be able to sign in.

• Session cookies, prefixed sb- — set by our authentication provider, Supabase, to keep you signed in and to refresh your session. The full name includes an identifier for our database, and a long session may be split across several numbered cookies. A short-lived cookie ending in -code-verifier is used during sign-in to complete the login exchange securely.

These remember choices you make. Blocking them will not break the Service — it will simply forget your preferences.

• NEXT_LOCALE — records which language version of the site you are viewing. Set automatically as you browse, so the right language loads on your next visit.
• lang — the language you chose explicitly, in your account settings or on a public board. Kept for up to a year.
• theme — whether you chose the light or dark appearance. Kept for up to a year.
• sidebar_state — whether you collapsed the dashboard sidebar. Kept for a week.
• fv-landing-demo-host — if you tried the demo on our home page by entering your website address, this remembers that address for up to seven days so we can set up your board for you if you sign up. It contains only the website address you typed.

These help us understand how people find and use Featurevote. Blocking them breaks nothing.

• _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID — set by Google Analytics, which counts visits, sign-ups and purchases. It runs across Featurevote, including inside the app and on public feedback boards. Kept for up to two years.
• _clck and _clsk — set by Microsoft Clarity on our public website. Clarity records how visitors use a page, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can see where the site is confusing. Recording is limited to public marketing pages and does not continue into sign-in, your workspace or customer feedback boards. Clarity masks sensitive content by default. Its script can also set _uetvid and _uetmsclkid, which belong to Microsoft’s advertising service, and cookies on Microsoft’s own domains. We do not advertise with Microsoft, and once you answer the banner Clarity is told not to store advertising cookies. Microsoft’s own use of collected data, including advertising, is described in its privacy statement below.

PostHog product analytics

PostHog measures selected actions on our website and in the app, such as signing up, creating a board and starting checkout. It stores a pseudonymous browser or signed-in user identifier and its sign-in status in localStorage under the keyfv_posthog_identity, until you clear that storage or withdraw your analytics choice. Other SDK state stays in memory. It does not record sessions, automatically capture clicks or run on customer feedback boards. Private URL parameters, workspace slugs, request IDs, email addresses and names are excluded from its events. Data is stored in PostHog Cloud EU (Frankfurt).

In a European timezone, PostHog waits for you to accept the analytics choice. Elsewhere it starts without that prompt. A saved refusal always stops PostHog. Withdrawing your choice clears its browser storage and stops new events; it does not delete events already sent.

Your choice for Google Analytics and Clarity

If your browser is set to a European timezone, a small banner on our public website asks once whether you accept these cookies. If you accept, both services use them. If you choose essential only, we tell both services not to use cookies, and they keep measuring without them. Clarity still records how you use public marketing pages.

Until you answer, and for visitors we do not ask, both run as they normally do. Google Analytics uses its cookies. Clarity uses its cookies too, except for visitors from the EU, the UK and Switzerland, where it waits for you to accept.

Customer feedback boards on their own web addresses do not show the banner, and your answer here does not carry over to them, so Google Analytics there uses its cookies.

When enabled on selected marketing pages, sign-in and registration pages, and creator setup pages, we ask whether Reddit may measure visits, account registrations and board creation. Accepting analytics cookies does not give this permission. We ask for the Reddit choice in every region, and the Pixel does not load if you have not agreed or your browser cannot remember your choice.

If you agree, Reddit receives the page address, referral information, browser and device information, and these measurement events. It can link this information to your Reddit activity to attribute conversions and support advertising audiences. We do not supply your email, phone number, account ID or board content as event properties, and we do not use advanced matching. Pages with unrecognised URL parameters, such as email addresses or sign-in tokens, are excluded.

The Pixel uses first-party cookies _rdt_uuid (a browser identifier) and _rdt_cid (an advertising click identifier, when present), for up to 90 days. It can also store its configuration in session storage as _rdt_cfg. You can clear your saved choice below, even when measurement is disabled. This stops new events and attempts to remove its first-party cookies and cached configuration, even if the Pixel has not loaded on that page; it does not erase events already received by Reddit. You can also delete cookies in your browser.

Reddit processes data under its Privacy Policy.

The following is kept in your browser’s local or session storage. It is never sent to our servers automatically the way cookies are, and it stays on your device.

• Changelog read markers — the date you last viewed a changelog, so we can show an unread indicator. Also used by the embeddable widget on sites that install it.
• Appearance and sign-in convenience — a copy of your theme choice, and which sign-in method you used last, so we can offer it first.
• Your cookie choice, fv_cookie_consent — whether you accepted analytics cookies or chose essential only on our public website, so we only ask once.
• Reddit advertising choice, fv_reddit_ads_consent — your separate permission or refusal for Reddit advertising measurement. A session marker, fv_reddit_signup_sent, prevents duplicate signup events in the same browser tab session; it contains no personal identifier.
• Onboarding and draft state — which setup guides you have seen, and unsaved drafts while you are setting up a board, so you do not lose work on a refresh.

We keep third-party code to a minimum. The ones below are the only services that can run in your browser while you use Featurevote.

• Cloudflare Turnstile — an anti-abuse check that may appear on the sign-in and sign-up forms to confirm you are not a bot. We do not set any cookie for it ourselves; it is loaded from Cloudflare and its own storage is governed by Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
• Stripe — used only when you subscribe or manage billing. Payment pages are operated by Stripe under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see or store your card details.
• Vercel Web Analytics — counts page views on our public marketing pages only. It is not loaded on customer feedback boards, and not inside the app once you sign in. It sets no cookie and does not follow you to other websites; Vercel counts visits using an anonymous identifier derived from the request rather than anything stored on your device. What we see is aggregate: which pages were viewed, and which site or campaign referred them. Governed by Vercel’s privacy policy.
• Google Analytics — measures visits, sign-ups and purchases across Featurevote. See Analytics cookies above. Governed by Google’s privacy policy.
• Microsoft Clarity — records how visitors use our public website. See Analytics cookies above. Governed by Microsoft’s privacy statement.
• Reddit Pixel — optional advertising measurement on selected landing and creator setup pages only. See Reddit advertising measurement above. It is not loaded on customer feedback boards.
• Supabase and Vercel — our database and hosting providers. They process requests on our behalf, and our hosting platform may set its own operational cookies at the network level.

In your browser

Every major browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies in its settings, usually under Privacy. You can block everything, or allow only the sites you choose.

Blocking our strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in. Blocking the preference cookies means the Service forgets your language and appearance choices. Blocking the analytics cookies breaks nothing. A tracker-blocking or ad-blocking extension stops the analytics services altogether, cookies or not.

To change the answer you gave our cookie banner, use this button. The banner comes back so you can choose again.

Clearing browser storage

The local and session storage described above is cleared the same way — through your browser’s “clear browsing data” or site-data controls.

If we add or remove a cookie, we update this page. Changes take effect when posted, and the date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
