How a merge works

From the admin side, an AI scan looks at a request and proposes the entries that describe the same thing. You pick which ones actually are duplicates and confirm — nothing merges on its own.

What it catches, what it doesn't

What it cannot always see is two genuinely different framings of the same underlying need — “export to CSV” and “let my accountant see the numbers” may be one problem, but that call needs a human.

What happens to the votes when I merge?
They move to the surviving request. If the same person voted on more than one of the merged entries, they count once. Comments move too, and the merged entries are archived with a note pointing at where they went.
Does anything merge automatically?
No. The AI proposes a group of likely duplicates and you confirm or reject it. Nothing on the board changes until you say so.
How does the matching work?
On meaning, not keywords. Requests are compared by what they describe, so "dark mode" and "night theme" match without sharing a single word.
Does the check run for visitors without accounts?
Yes. The similar-request check runs on the public post form for everyone, including visitors who never log in.
