Many Discord servers collect ideas the same way. A member types /suggest, a bot posts the idea in a #suggestions channel, people vote on it, and staff approve or reject it. A handful of free bots handle it, and one of the best known is gone.
A disclosure first. We make featurevote.app, one of the options below. It is a voting board with its own Discord commands rather than a suggestion bot. Everything in this post was read on October 30, 2026, on each bot's own site, docs or bot listing, and each one is linked so you can check it yourself.
What happened to Suggester?
Suggester was for years one of the best known suggestion bots. Its own site now says it was shut down permanently, after running from 2019 to 2025. The developers write that the code had fallen behind newer Discord features, such as slash commands and threads, and that they no longer had time to keep it going.
Bot lists such as top.gg still show Suggester's old page and invite link, so it can look as if it is still running. That listing describes what it did: a suggestions channel, voting, comments and statuses, and a review mode where staff check suggestions before they are posted. Suggestions Bot and Aethor both have that kind of review step.
How do the bots compare?
| Option | Voting | Staff review first | Anonymous suggestions | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suggestions Bot | Up and down, on the message | Yes, optional queue | Yes, the member chooses | Free, optional Premium per server |
| Aethor | Up and down buttons | Yes, optional | Not stated | Free for one setup, Premium free on request for now |
| Carl-bot | Up and down | Not in its docs | Server-wide setting | Suggestions not marked Premium |
| Suggestion Bot | Like and dislike | Not stated | Not stated | No pricing on its site |
| featurevote.app | Upvotes, and roles can count more | Yes, optional | No, requests carry the Discord name | Free plan includes Discord |
Read on October 30, 2026. "Not stated" means the bot's own pages don't say, not that the feature is missing.
The bots, one by one
Suggestions Bot
Suggestions Bot is a bot made only for suggestions, and its site says it runs in more than 88,000 servers. Members use /suggest or a button you post in a channel, and everyone votes on the message. Staff resolve a suggestion as approved, rejected, implemented or a duplicate, with a note, and the author gets a direct message with the outcome. Each suggestion can get its own thread, and members can attach images.
Two things set it apart. The queue holds new suggestions for staff, so only the ones you approve reach the voting channel. And with anonymous suggestions on, a member can hide their name from everyone, server owners included. Voters are not anonymous. The core is free, and an optional Premium per server adds custom cooldowns, role pings on new suggestions and a note to voters when a suggestion they voted on is resolved. The docs don't list a price.
It fits a server that wants a full suggestion system inside Discord, with no dashboard to learn.
Aethor
Aethor is a suggestion bot with more tools for sorting a long backlog. Members use /suggest, or simply post in the suggestions channel, and a message action turns a chat message into a suggestion. Each suggestion has up and down buttons and can get a thread. Staff can accept, deny, mark planned, implemented or duplicate, and comment publicly or anonymously. A list command filters suggestions by state, author, votes or text.
The free tier has one suggestion setup. Premium raises that to five and adds a CSV export, and Aethor says Premium costs nothing at the moment and is given out on request in its support server. Aethor also does tickets, tags and auto responses.
It fits a server with many suggestions that staff need to search and sort.
Carl-bot
Carl-bot is a general purpose bot, and suggestions are one of its modules. Members use /suggestion suggest, and staff approve, deny, consider or mark a suggestion implemented, with a reason. The suggestion turns green or red by the difference between up and down votes, and decisions can go to a separate channel.
Its anonymous setting is server wide and hides the member's name and avatar on new suggestions. Staff with the Manage Server permission can still look up who wrote one. Carl-bot's docs don't mark the suggestion commands as Premium.
It fits a server that already runs Carl-bot for moderation or roles and wants suggestions without another bot.
Suggestion Bot
Suggestion Bot is a smaller bot. Its Discord listing describes /suggest, separate channels for suggestions and for accepted and denied ones, like and dislike votes, a thread on each suggestion, and a saved transcript of that thread after a decision. Its listing says it is in about 3,600 servers. Its site lists no pricing or premium tier.
It fits a server that wants a discussion thread under each suggestion.
featurevote.app
This is ours, so read it with that in mind.
featurevote is a public board where people post requests and vote, with a roadmap and a changelog. Since October 2026 it also works from inside Discord. Members add a request with /suggest, or right click a message and pick Add suggestion to turn an idea from the chat into a request. /vote shows the top five requests with a Vote button for each, so members can vote without leaving the server.

What featurevote adds is the board itself and the weighting. Requests stay on a standing list that ranks itself by votes, and people who are not in your server can vote there without an account. You can make a supporter role's vote count double or more, or turn on Members only so only your server takes part. With Held for approval on, a member's request waits for your team. When something ships, a changelog can post to a channel you pick, and you can email the voters who left an email. The bot joins your server with no permissions and doesn't read your channels. The Discord integration is part of every plan, including the free one.
Here is where it differs from the bots above. There are no down votes. Every request added from Discord carries a Discord name, so there is no anonymous option from Discord. And discussion happens in comments on the board, not in a thread in your server. How a server runs it day to day is in Discord feature voting.
When is a bot the better choice?
Often. If your community lives entirely in Discord, a bot keeps everything in one place, and each bot above can be added to a server for free.
- You want anonymous suggestions. Suggestions Bot lets each member choose, and Carl-bot has a server-wide setting.
- You want down votes, or a thread under each idea. All four bots offer one or both.
- You want one bot for more than suggestions. Carl-bot and Aethor also handle other server tasks.
- Your ideas are short lived. If a suggestion is decided within days, a channel and a bot do the job.
A board is worth a look when ideas pile up over months and need to stay findable, when people outside the server should vote too, or when supporters' votes should count for more.
What about Discord voting bots?
When we searched for a Discord voting bot in October 2026, most results were poll bots, such as EasyPoll and Simple Poll. A poll asks one question with options you write. A suggestion bot collects ideas from your members. How a channel poll compares with a standing board is on the Discord page.
Which one fits your server?
- You want a full suggestion system in Discord, with a review queue and anonymous suggestions. Suggestions Bot.
- You have a long backlog that staff need to search and sort. Aethor.
- You already run Carl-bot. Turn on its suggestions module.
- You want a thread for each idea and a saved transcript after a decision. Suggestion Bot.
- You want a board that ranks itself, members suggesting and voting from Discord, and supporter roles that count more. featurevote.app.
Questions people ask
What is the best Discord suggestion bot?
It depends on what you need. Suggestions Bot has a review queue and anonymous suggestions, Aethor has filters for sorting a long backlog, and Carl-bot needs nothing new if it already runs in your server. The table above shows how they differ.
Is there a Discord bot for anonymous suggestions?
Yes. On Suggestions Bot, a member can mark a suggestion anonymous, and their name is hidden from everyone, including the server owner. On Carl-bot, anonymity is one setting for the whole server, and staff can still look up the author. On featurevote, every request added from Discord carries a Discord name.
Is Suggester still working?
No. Its own site says it was shut down permanently. Suggestions Bot and Aethor cover the same ground, including a staff review step.
Can members vote without leaving Discord?
Yes, on every option here. The bots add voting to each suggestion message. On featurevote, /vote posts the top requests with a Vote button for each, and a member's vote counts with their role's weight.
Do I need to pay for any of these?
Not to get started. Each bot here can be added to a server for free, and featurevote's Discord integration is on the free plan. Suggestions Bot and Aethor offer Premium extras, as their sections above describe.
