Seed your board from a URL

A new board is empty, and an empty board gives visitors nothing to vote on. Seeding lets you paste your product's URL and have AI draft a few starter feature requests — so there's real content on the board from day one.

When You'll See It

The seeding card appears on the Features tab whenever your board has no features yet. It's titled "Fill your board in a minute":

Paste your product's URL and we'll draft a few starter requests you can edit and publish — so real users have something to vote on right away.

Once your board has features, the card goes away. You can always add more requests manually with New Feature Request.

Draft Starter Requests

1. In the Your product URL field, enter your product's address (e.g. https://yourproduct.com).
2. Click Draft starter requests.

FeatureVote reads your site and drafts 3–8 starter requests (usually around 6), each with a title and description based on what your product does.

Review Before Publishing

Nothing is added to your board automatically. The drafts appear in an editable review list where you decide what goes live:

• Each draft has an Include this request checkbox (checked by default) — uncheck any you don't want.
• Edit the title and description of any draft directly.
• Click Start over to clear the drafts and try a different URL.

When you're happy, click Publish (it shows how many requests you've selected). The selected drafts are added to your board with the status Requested.

No emails go out — this is you seeding your own board, not notifying users.

If Your Site Can't Be Read

If FeatureVote can't fully read your site (it's unreachable, blocks automated readers, or isn't a standard web page), it falls back to generic starter requests and shows a notice:

We couldn't fully read your site, so these are generic starters — edit them to fit your product.

Just edit those drafts to match your product before publishing. A few notes on what's supported:

• The URL must be a public http/https address — localhost and private/internal addresses are rejected.
• Publishing is subject to your plan's feature limit. If you hit the limit partway through, the requests created up to that point are kept and you're told how many were added.

Optional: Product Profile

Under Product Profile (in your account settings) you can run a deeper analysis of your website that builds an AI "context profile" of your product — its name, description, key features, audience, and category.

This profile doesn't add anything to your board on its own, but it's used to make the starter requests above more accurate. It's optional — seeding works without it.
