Surveys
Ask one short question on your Feedback Portal and in your widget, and see each answer next to what that person voted for
A survey asks your visitors one short question. It can be a rating, like how happy they are with something you shipped, or a poll, like which of two ideas to build next. People answer with one tap and no account. Each answer shows next to what that person voted for on your board.
Surveys are on every plan.
Create a survey
Open Surveys in the sidebar and click New survey.
- Write your Question. Keep it short, up to 200 characters.
- Pick a Type:
- Rating is a 1 to 5 scale, from Not happy to Very happy.
- Poll lets people pick one of 2 to 5 options.
- Click Put it live. The survey goes live at once.
A rating can be About a request (optional). That's for you: the results page shows which request it was about, but visitors don't see it. So name the thing in the question itself, like "How happy are you with the new export?"
Each poll option can Link a request (optional) on your board. On your Feedback Portal that option then links to the request, so people can read it before they choose. The link only shows while the request is public.
A live survey can't be edited. To change the wording, close it and create a new one.
Where visitors see it
- At the top of the Features tab on your Feedback Portal.
- In your embed, at the top of the idea box and on the board view.
People see one survey at a time. It's the newest live one they haven't answered or dismissed yet. Not now hides it in their browser.
Surveys show on a Public, Unlisted or Hidden board. On a Private board visitors can't reach your Feedback Portal, so nobody can answer. See Board settings.
Your team sees a preview of the survey and can't answer it, so you don't answer your own survey by accident.
Answering
A tap on a face or an option saves the answer right away. People can then add a comment under Anything to add? and click Send, or leave it there.
Anyone who can see your board can answer. Require email to vote and the Patreon and Discord vote gates don't apply to surveys, since an answer doesn't rank anything.
Each visitor gets one answer per survey, counted by browser the same way a no-login vote is.
Results
Surveys lists every survey with its status and how many answers it has. Click one to see the results:
- The number of answers, and for a rating the average out of 5.
- How the answers split across the scale or the options.
- Each answer with its comment, and the person's name or email if they've given one. Otherwise it reads Visitor.
- Voted for, the requests that person voted for on your board.
Voted for matches by browser, the same way a no-login vote does. Votes cast in another browser or device, or with an email instead, don't show there.
Close, reopen or delete
- Close survey takes it off your board and keeps the answers. Anyone answering at that moment is told it has closed.
- Reopen puts a closed survey live again.
- Delete removes the survey and all its answers. This can't be undone.
